Hey Carol, A few days ago a co-worker offered me his families 1 year old tomcat. A black European Shorthair. He explained to me, that his families girls (his wife and oldest daughter), who wanted to have a new cat after the old one had died, did nothing to make the cat feel comfortable. They payed no attention to the new cat. My coworker decided that the new cat deserved something better and asked me. I was touched that he thought of me and that he remembered that I had lost my Patti. We agreed that I would visit him on Thursday and see, if that cat and I would be a match.
Oh man....I'm so much missing to have a cat around my feet. That much is true. But on the other hand, I'm enjoying the freedom to not be responsible for another being...at least for now. Do you think I can ask my coworker to wait till my next holidays in September? Plus I'm not sure if it is not to soon after Patti....

I think waiting until September is ok, however the sooner, the better!! It is never too early, you would not be replacing your kitty by any means. If I didn't have Thor when Loki passed, it would have been so much harder to deal. When you are a loner such as myself, your cats become way more than just pets.. Make sure he is fixed tho, I have had several male cats that sprayed, & it is pungent lol. I hope you take him, I really dnt think you will regret it, Cats bring so much joy. Also, they are way easier than dogs lol But, if yoy are away from hme alot I wold really consider going to a shelter & getting him a companion, a kitten would be best. Or even a good bengal breeder lol. I know Thor's dad came from the Czech Republic. Keep me posted tho.
That cat is (what did you call it? fixed?), vaccinated and chipped. He has a calm mood and his owner told me, tht he doesn't scratch at furniture and walls (as if I would care, considering my furniture and walls...lol)
And yes...IF I take him, I might add a second cat..later. I had male cats before and yes, they tend to be more tolerant to other cats then the ladies. I just will have to find another cat...because the shelters don't like to give cats away for living in an appartment.
