In den Anfängen beschrieb man die Musik von Brendan Perry und Lisa Gerrard noch als Gothic Rock und Post Punk. Später vereinte das Projekt so viele Musikstile (Irish Folk, asiatische und afrikanische Rhythmen und Instrumente, australische Instrumente, Klassik, Rock, Mittelalterliche Musik), dass das ganze wohl nur noch unter dem Label 'Weltmusik' zu katalogisieren ist. Am Besten jeder macht sich da mal selbst ein Bild. Es ist auf jeden Fall fantastisch und hörenswert!

1998, nachdem sie noch den Titel "The Lotus Eaters" eingespielt hatten, lösten sich Dead Can Dance auf. "The Lotus Eaters" sowie die ebenfalls nicht auf regulärem Album erhältlichen Titel "Spirit", "Bird", "Lamma Badda" und "Song To The Sirens" sind Grund genug, das 2005er Compilation-Album "Memento" dieser Sammlung hinzuzufügen. Auf der Compilation Box (1981-98) gibt es noch ein paar weitere Songs, die es sonst nirgendwo gibt..aber diese Box ist leider nur als völlig überteuerte CD zu haben...
