Wo sich schon The Mission in einer Musiksammlung tummeln, da dürfen (bei mir zumindest) The Sisters Of Mercy natürlich nicht fehlen. Auch wenn Andrew Eldritch es hasst, er ist ganz einfach die Symbolfigur für den Gothic Rock. Ob man seine Musik nun aber wirklich unbedingt als Gothic bezeichnen muss...ich weiß es nicht. Seine Musik ist für mich vor allem eines: Saugeil! Obwohl die Band The Sisters Of Mercy offiziell immer noch besteht und auch immer noch live auftritt, so ist die aktive Phase der Veröffentlichung neuer Titel doch schon lange vorbei. Von 1980 bis 1993 hat Eldritch mit schöner Regelmäßigkeit Scheiben auf den Markt gebracht. Ich habe mich bemüht, von allen offiziellen Titeln wenigstens eine, vorzugsweise die Extended Version, meiner Sammlung hinzuzufügen. Soweit ich das auf sisterswiki.org/Merciful_Release überblicken kann, ist mir das auch gelungen. Auf Live-Titel oder Remixe habe ich keinen gesteigerten Wert gelegt.
Obwohl es von den Sisters tatsächlich nur drei reguläre Studioalben gegeben hat, so kann man schon in dem Bild oben sehen, dass es trotzdem eine ganze Reihe offizieller Veröffentlichungen gab. Zu den drei Alben gesellte sich ein weiteres unter dem Namen The Sisterhood. Dann kamen die zwei offiziellen Compilations hinzu, sowie letzten Endes mein persönliches Best-Of-Album. Der Rest sind EP's und Singles. Wenn sich Titel bei den Veröffentlichungen wiederholen, dann sind sie meist nur bei der ersten Veröffentlichung aufgeführt.
